Proper Use of the Coaching Box

 

              I.      Definition

The Coaching Box is a parallel line to and one yard from the touchline. It will extend from the center toward each goal and will stop at the penalty area. Each line will have a vertical line one yard long going away from the touchline.

 

           II.      How to use the Coaching Box

                              1.   When you have teams and parents on the same sideline.

A.     Coaches are required to stay within the box. At no time should they advance to the touchline.

B.     Only the Head Coach, Assistant Coach, or Team Manager are allowed to coach.

C.     Players, Parents, and other spectators are required to be behind the Coaches, but within the limits of the Coaching Box.

D.     No one is allowed to be in the area from the end of the Coaching Box (beginning of penalty area) to the goal line. No one is allowed behind the goal line area.

E.      It is the Coach’s responsibility to explain the above to his players, parents, and other spectators.

 

                                 2.     When you have teams on one side of the field and parents, spectators, etc. on the opposite side of the field.

A.     Coaches are required to stay within the box. At no time should they advance to the touchline.

B.     Coaches and players will not be allowed to cross the center stripe on the sideline.

C.     Players will report to the center stripe when entering and leaving the field.

D.     Home team will be on the right of the centerline facing the field.

E.      Only the coach, ONE assistant coach, and the team manager or Team Mom will be allowed to be with the players.

F.      Parents and spectators will be required to be located on the opposite side of the field behind a line on their side of the field two yards from the touchline.

G.     No one is allowed to be in the area from the end of the Coaching Box (beginning of the penalty area) to the goal line. No one is allowed behind the goal line area.

H.     There will be no coaching taking place on the parents, spectator’s side of the field.

I.        It is the Coach’s responsibility to explain the above to his players, parents, and spectators.

 

                                 3.   Coaches, players, parents and spectators arriving at field prior to their game, and while a game is still being played will abide by the above rules.
