Soccer Rules for U-9 and U-10
1. Ball
size #4.
2. Number
of players on the field: eight players, one of whom shall be a goalkeeper.
3. Maximum
roster size: twelve players. Each player shall play at least 50% of the total
playing time.
4. All
players should have shin guards. Footwear can be tennis shoes or soft-cleated
soccer shoes.
5. Each
coach will present a filled out GLSA Score Sheet to the referee or assistant
referee before each game. At the end of the game, each coach must get his teams
score sheet back. Both Coaches will deposit their score sheets, after
each game, in the locked box near the bulletin board or at the entrance gate.
6. Duration
of the game: Two twenty-five minute periods, with a five-minute break at
halftime. After halftime, teams will switch sides.
7. For
both direct and indirect free kicks, the ball must be stationary when the kick
is taken and the kicker does not touch the ball a second time until another
player has touched it.
8. If
a player is called offside by the assistant referee, an indirect free kick will
be awarded to the opposing team, to be taken from the place where the infraction
occurred.
9. When
the ball goes out of bounds, play will resume with a throw-in. If it is taken
incorrectly, a throw-in will then be awarded to the opposing team.
10. Substitutions: §
At a throw-in by the team in possession of the ball. §
By either team before a goal kick, after a goal is scored, at half time,
and when play is stopped for an injury.
11. On
a kick-off, goal kick, or corner kick, a player may not touch the ball a second
time until another player has touched it.
12. Coaches,
parents, spectators and non-playing players should be behind the Coach’s Box
line, and away from the penalty area. No coaching behind the goals.
13. Coaches
are not allowed on the field unless a player is injured. The referee will stop
play and allow the coach to enter the field.
14. No
individual is allowed to run the length of the sideline except participants of
the game.
15. Trophies
or awards will be given based on league standings. Number of teams determines
the number of trophies.
16. Coaches
need to have a small first-aid kit at games and practices. |
