Soccer Rules for U-9 and U-10
1. Number
of players on the field: eight players, one of whom shall be a goalkeeper.
2.
Maximum
roster size: 14 players. Each player shall play at least 50% of the total
playing time. 3. Each coach will present a filled out GLSA Score Sheet to the referee or assistant referee before each game. At the end of the game, each coach must get his/her team's score sheet back. Both coaches will deposit their score sheets, after each game, in the locked box near one of the concession stands. 4. Duration of the game: Two- 25 minute periods, with a five-minute break at halftime. After halftime, teams will switch sides. Opposing coaches and players should shake hands after each game. 5. For
both direct and indirect free kicks, the ball must be stationary when the kick
is taken and the kicker may not touch the ball a second time until another
player has touched it. 6. If
a player is called offside by the assistant referee, an indirect free kick will
be awarded to the opposing team, to be taken from the place where the infraction
occurred.
7. When
the ball goes out of bounds, play will resume with a throw-in. If it is taken
incorrectly, a throw-in will then be awarded to the opposing team.
8. Substitutions: §
Prior to a throw-in, in your favor. §
By either team before a goal kick, after a goal is scored, at half time,
and when play is stopped for an injury. § A player may be substituted for when he/she is given a caution.
9. On
a kick-off, goal kick, or corner kick, a player may not touch the ball a second
time until another player has touched it.
10.
Coaches
are not allowed on the field unless a player is injured. The referee will stop
play and allow the coach to enter the field.
11. No
individual is allowed to run the length of the sideline except participants of
the game.
12. Trophies
or awards will be given based on league standings. Number of teams determines
the number of place trophies. 13. Coaches and players of both teams should be behind the Coaching Box line on one side of the field. Parents, spectators, and non-playing players will be on the opposite side of the field behind a line from the touchline. |
